Ingredients:
1 cup Unscented Epsom Salts 1/4 cup Sweet Almond Oil 1 tsp. Raw Honey 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract 1/2 tsp. Ground Cinnamon 10 drops Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil (or 5 drops Clove and 5 drops Cinnamon Bark) Mix the ingredients above into a glass jar. Make sure to add the Almond Oil slowly so that you can make the mixture thicker if that's the way you prefer it. To Use: Apply to damp skin and use with a circular motion. Avoid contact with sensitive skin or eyes as Cinnamon can be a skin irritant. Rinse thoroughly. Enjoy the lovely Autumn Inspired scent that will fill your bathroom and linger on your ever-so-soft skin!

What It IsDeodorant is important. We all know that. We all also know that it can be kind of a pain to find a good natural deodorant that actually works. Luckily for you, after many failed attempts at making my own (skip the baking soda, I beg you), I found a fantastic solution. Salt crystal deodorant. Salt crystal deodorant (whether liquid, stone, or stick) works so well because it contains an amazingly simple ingredient: salt. Salt does a great job with killing bacteria, so it can stop the stink before it ever happens. I do have to say, though, that this will not make already existing odor go away. It's more of a preventative measure. All you have to do is run the crystal under water and smooth it under your arms. Let it dry. This will stop any smell from occurring. It is seriously incredible. Now, if you want a tantalizing scent and have a stick of natural deodorant that you'd like to use over this, that's fine too! I know that I had a LOT of trouble with Toms natural deodorant. It didn't really seem to deodorize for me at all, but I loved the scent. I would apply the crystal deodorant, let it dry, and smooth on the great smelling deodorant as usual. This time, though, the scent would last all day without any stink! I encourage all of you to give this a try. I promise, if you are struggling with odor and nothing else is working, this will be the answer to your prayers. The best part? It's only a few bucks max and it will literally last you your entire life...okay, maybe just a few decades, but that's seriously long. I bet your stick deodorant can't do that. Okay, now that I have you all on board, I'd like to give you a head start and recommend some products and where you can find them. Rock Crystal and Deodorant SticksSpray DeodorantAs you can see, nearly every brand offers both options: stick and spray. They work equally well. With some brands, the spray has an option to have a scent. I have the chamomile and green tea one by Crystal and I love it! Where To Find ItWith the rise of internet shopping, your options are pretty much unlimited. However, you guys know that I prefer Amazon for all of my online shopping needs. They have great prices and you can find ANYTHING. If online isn't the route that you'd like to go, there are a variety of other great options: Healthy Home Market, Whole Foods, GNC, The Vitamin Shoppe, Walmart (don't they have everything??), Walgreen's, CVS, and Target just to name a few.
I hope you decide to give this amazing option a try! Make sure to leave feedback of your experience in the comments below! Moisturizing after a shower or a bath is absolutely ESSENTIAL. While it feels nice to sit in that steamy water for a prolonged period of time (yes, I do this), it can leave your skin super dry and in need of intense moisture. Not to mention, an after bathing body oil can make you smell and feel incredible. I swear. Here's what I use to keep my skin super soft and healthy! What you need: Spray bottle with a fine mist setting 2 parts Camellia Seed Oil (Tea oil) (Or, if you want a cheaper option, Fractionated Coconut Oil) 1 part Jojoba Oil 1 part Grapeseed Oil 20 drops Essential Oils (per 4-8 oz of carrier oil) What to do: Combine the above ingredients into the spray bottle. Make sure to gently combine the oils before use. Keep in mind that if you decide to use fractionated coconut oil, it has to be fractionated. Regular coconut oil will just solidify and make your life difficult. If you can't use some of the ingredients listed above, I encourage you to do your own research on different carrier oils and find the ones that work for you. Just make sure that the oils have a thin consistency and absorb well into the skin. My skin always feels super clean and soft afterwards. However, the store bought face scrubs seem to dry my skin out to the point of it peeling. Yeah, gross. Luckily, I like to make my own products most of the time. I started off by thinking about what ingredients are good for my skin. Naturally, I came up with honey. It's antibacterial, cleans really well, and leaves the skin soft and moisturized. Next, I decided to add something amazing to make this into a scrub that will make skin beautiful.
What you Need: 1 cup honey (make sure that it's raw local honey) 3 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. baking soda 5 drops lemon essential oil (optional, but highly recommended) What to do: Mix all of the ingredients together. Be sure that the cinnamon combines completely with the honey. You don't want random chunks of cinnamon hanging out unmixed! Store in an airtight container. (Or, you could do what I do and just put it back in the honey container. That is, if you've used all of the honey.) Most store bought hairspray is laden with chemicals. It can dry your hair out and even cause damage and breakage (from drying it out). So, with this knowledge in mind and a head full of frizzy, damaged hair, I dove deep into the internet to try and find a natural hairspray recipe. As luck would have it, most people had the same recipe to share and it was working GREAT for them. However, I like to be difficult and different. So, I modified the recipe slightly to meet my own hair care needs. Without further ado, here's my recipe for what I like to call "hummingbird" hairspray. What you need: An empty spray bottle with a fine misting option 1 cup Water 3 tsp. Sugar 1 tsp. Salt 5 drops Peppermint Essential Oil 4 drops Lavender Essential Oil What to do: Bring 1 cup of water to a boil and pour it into a measuring cup. Believe me, the measuring cup makes life so much easier with this recipe. Next, you want to add 3 tsp. of sugar to the water. It doesn't really matter what sugar you use for this, but I used my all natural Florida crystals. After you dissolve the sugar in the hot water, add 1 tsp of salt to the mixture. Once again, you can use any type of salt that you like. For this, I used mineral salt. Once all of the ingredients are combined and properly dissolved, let the water cool. Once the water reaches room temperature, pour it into your spray bottle. This can be easily done thanks to that handy measuring cup!
After you pour the mixture into your bottle, add the essential oils and gently combine. By this, I mean tip the bottle back and forth to gently incorporate the oils into the mixture. It's important to note that, as much as we would like it to, oil and water do NOT mix. That being said, you will have to gently mix them together each time. This will disperse the oils throughout the mixture. Annnnndddddd... YOU'RE DONE! You now have your very own bottle of hummingbird hairspray! I would recommend using essential oils that repel insects (be sure to do your research first!) in addition to the peppermint and lavender. As it is, this is basically sugar water and I don't want any of you to have to deal with bugs! Good luck and Enjoy!! |
