It is officially that time of year again when the sniffles start showing up. I myself have been dealing with a particularly nasty cold for the past few days. BUT, with this simple morning/night routine, I've been able to kick it to the curb almost immediately! This is what I did to knock out a sore throat, a cough, and the sniffles. What I Used: OnGuard, Thieves, ect. (whatever oil blend this is depending on the carrier) If you don't own this, you can follow the recipe to make it in my post Thieves Essential Oil: A Winter Necessity. Eucalyptus Essential Oil Tea Tree Essential Oil (or Melaleuca) Carrier Oil. What I did: I mixed 2-3 drops tea tree eo with a carrier oil and rubbed it into my neck to aid in the healing of my sore throat. I mixed 4-5 drops thieves eo with a carrier oil and rubbed it into the bottoms of my feet for quick absorption into my system. I mixed 3-5 drops eucalyptus eo with a carrier oil and rubbed it into my chest as a make shift vapor rub to help with my cough and congestion. That's it. That's all I did to kick my cold to the curb. In two days I was able to completely knock out my sore throat, and my cold is almost completely gone!

Do you have trouble sleeping? So do I. I lay awake for HOURS every night wishing that I could sleep. Luckily, I have this amazing roller bottle recipe that can help ease the tension and make falling asleep a little bit easier. Roller Bottle 30 drops Lavender Essential Oil 10 drops Vetiver Essential Oil Top it off with a carrier oil To use, simply apply the oils to the bottoms of your feet before you go to sleep at night. With winter coming fast, it won't hurt to be prepared when the sniffles start to show up. This recipe combines some of the best essential oils for when you're sick to make an awesome and natural homemade vapor rub!
What You Need: 1/2 cup Coconut Oil (Use this oil. You will want it to be solid.) 2 TBS Beeswax (I recommend getting the pellets. They're so much easier to use.) 15 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil 6 drops Peppermint Essential Oil 6 drops Lavender Essential Oil 6 drops Rosemary Essential Oil 3 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil What To Do: In a double boiler, melt the coconut oil. Add in the Beeswax and stir until the mixture is smooth. When the oil and wax are combined, remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Mix in the essential oils BEFORE the mixture solidifies. Transfer into a glass jar or container. This Vapor Rub will keep in a glass jar for up to 12 months. The cold weather is on it's way, and with that comes the germs. Colds, the flu, and all that yucky stuff. So, to combat the germs, I started making this hand sanitizer last year. Let me tell ya, it's AWESOME. I love it. This doesn't dry my hands out at all, the opposite actually. Since there isn't any alcohol in this mixture, it's super moisturizing for your cold chapped hands. What you need: A squeeze bottle Aloe Vera Gel (make sure that the bottle says it's 100%) Witch Hazel Four Thieves Essential Oil (or OnGuard, Thieves, Health Guard, etc...) Vitamin E Oil What to do: Figure out what amounts work best for your squeeze bottle size. For mine, I used: 6 TBS Aloe Vera Gel 5 TBS Witch Hazel 20 drops Four Thieves Essential Oil. 10 drops Vitamin E Oil This hand sanitizer is so moisturizing and healing. Not to mention it kicks germs to the curb. I love it, and I think that you will too! The best part is that this is safe for kids to use. Give it a try and see how this super simple recipe compares to store bought hand sanitizer! What Is This Crazy Lady Talking About??Welcome, everyone, to my secret to staying healthy during the cold part of the year. My secret weapon is a spicy blend of essential oils; a blend, mind you, that can be found with every essential oil carrier. This post is focusing on the go-to essential oil blend when your family is struck by a nasty cold, the flu, or any other yucky ailment that comes along with winter. What Are My Options? The oil that I'm talking about is an amazing blend of spiced oils. Listed below are the names that it goes by with a couple of different carriers: Edens Garden: Four Thieves doTerra: OnGuard Young Living: Thieves Healing Solutions: Health Shield These are just a few of the names that this incredible oil goes by. If you feel so inclined, you can also find some DIY recipes online! Luckily, though, for the lazy people out there, I will post it below and do the research for you! What's In It?I'm glad you asked! Though, to be honest, I am controlling the questions here. Take a look below to see which oils make up this awesome blend: Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil Clove Essential Oil Lemon Essential Oil Rosemary Essential Oil Eucalyptus Essential Oil DIY Essential Oil Blend For Winter Ailments10 drops Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil 20 drops Clove Essential Oil 18 drops Lemon Essential Oil 5 drops Rosemary Essential Oil 8 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil Mix these oils with a carrier oil of your choice and store in a dark glass bottle. P.S. Yes, it needs to be a dark color and it needs to be glass. No plastic!! How To Use ItI mix about 20-30 drops of my essential oil (not diluted with a carrier) in a roller bottle with a carrier oil. After that, apply this to the bottoms of the feet twice a day (it's usually easiest to do this morning and night). You can also apply it whenever you feel that it's needed.
This oil isn't just great as a health boosting oil. Truth be told, it has a TON of awesome uses. Check out this picture that I found online below to see just a few of them! |
